Jaguars Could Be Without Two Defensive Starters

The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without two defensive starters in their season opener at Minnesota.

Linebacker Daryl Smith sat out practice Thursday because of a groin injury and cornerback Derek Cox was limited for the second consecutive day with a hamstring injury.

Both players missed the majority of the preseason with those injuries, but Smith seemingly re-aggravated his groin after practicing Monday and Wednesday. If Smith can't play, Kyle Bosworth likely would start in his place. Coach Mike Mularkey doesn't anticipate Cox playing against the Vikings. Will Middleton or Kevin Rutland likely would start in his place.

The Jaguars got some good news Thursday with the full return of receiver Justin Blackmon (ankle) and guard Uche Nwaneri (ankle). Both were limited in practice Wednesday.
