Rosenfels, Carr, Todman Among Vikings Cuts

Bad news for Sage Rosenfels and Jordan Todman means good news for McLeod Bethel-Thompson and Matt Asiata.

The Vikings made 22 cuts to reach the NFL-mandated 53-man roster limit ahead of Friday's deadline.

Quarterback Sage Rosenfels was released, establishing rookie McLeod Bethel-Thompson as the backup to Christian Ponder and Joe Webb.

Despite a highlight-reel touchdown in the preseason finale, Jordan Todman was released along with NFL-veteran Lex Hilliard.  Their releases mean Matt Asiata has earned the #3 runningback role behind Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart.

Among the cuts, the Vikings also placed offensive tackle DeMarcus Love on Injured Reserve.

Receiver Jerome Simpson is on the Vikings roster, but does not count against the 53-man limit while he serves a suspension during the first three weeks of the season.

More cuts could be coming if the Vikings opt to sign players who have been released by other teams.  The Vikings have the third spot in waiver-claims, which is based on last season's standings.
