The best wheelchair athletes in Minnesota now have a new state-of-the-art field for games.
Northwoods Park in Brooklyn Park features the state's first competitive wheelchair softball field. The surface is hard, fast and designed for high-level play.
Members of the Courage Center's Rolling Twins wheelchair softball team were part of a home run derby during opening-day activities Thursday.
Much of the funding for the field came through the Minnesota Twins, who won a vote among Major League baseball teams to earn a $200,000 grant.
