U.S. Army Pulls NASCAR Sponsorship
The U.S. Army won’t advertise in NASCAR next season following pressure from a Minnesota lawmaker.
The Army said yesterday it won’t sponsor Stewart-Haas Racing next year. It had advertised on NASCAR for 10 years.
Congresswoman Betty McCollum pushed an amendment prohibiting military sponsorship of sports. She wants $80 million in sponsorship cut form the defense budget, adding that she wants to save taxpayers from having to pay for the sponsorship.
