Wild Release 2011-12 Schedule

If you're a Minnesota Wild fan, don't make any plans between December 14th and 28th, as the team will be home for a franchise-record tying seven-game homestand.

The long run at the Xcel Energy Center is part of the 2011-12 schedule the team and National Hockey League released today.

Offsetting the homestand are a pair of six-game roadtrips.

After a six-game preseason schedule, the Wild open the season at home on Saturday, October 13th against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Wild play six games (three home, three away) against each Northwest Division opponent, and four (two home, two away) against other teams in the Western Conference.

The remaining eighteen games are against Eastern Conference opponents: home-and-homes with Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and the New York Islanders; at Boston, Carolina, New Jersey, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay and Winnipeg; hosting Buffalo, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Washington.

Of note, the Winnipeg Jets do not play at the Xcel Center this year, in their second season back in the NHL. The Wild-Jets game in St. Paul was one of the highlights of last year's schedule.

The upcoming season has the Wild playing seventeen weekend home games - three on Fridays, eleven on Saturdays and three on Sundays.

The Wild's traditional day-after-Thanksgiving (vs Toronto), day-after-Christmas (vs. Dallas) and New Year's Eve games (vs. Edmonton) are again included.

The team will endure fourteen back-to-back games this year, after just eleven last season.

Eighteen of the Wild's first 28 games are on the road.

The complete schedule, and the team's official release, are below:
