Most high school football teams don't play their first games until next week.

Before that, though, many teams will be in action in preseason scrimmages Saturday.

Here's a look at where some teams will be, and against whom they will be scrimmaging, for those looking to get a sneak peek at what the 2017 season may hold in store:

  • Edina's 6-foot-7, 295-pound junior tackle Quinn Carroll has already drawn serious attention from Division I coaches. Hornets head coach Derrin Lamker said he already has 27 Division I offers, including interest from schools like Alabama, UCLA, and of course, Minnesota. Carroll and his team will host Andover, Becker and Holy Angels in a scrimmage beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday in Edina.
  • Defending Class 6A champion Totino-Grace is part of a scrimmage in Maple Grove that begins at 9 a.m. Saturday. Also on hand will be Stillwater and Lakeville North.
  • Minnetonka plays host to a scrimmage beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Also taking part will be Osseo, Eastview and Brainerd - whose head coach Ron Stolski begins his 56th season in the prep head coaching ranks this fall.
  • Eden Prairie hosts a scrimmage at 9 a.m. Saturday. Also on hand will be Chanhassen, East Ridge, Eagan and Rochester Century.
  • Lakeville South hosts a scrimmage beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, though it will do so at Lakeville North High School. Champlin Park and Owatonna will be the other teams on hand.
  • Defending Class 5A state champion Elk River will take part in a scrimmage Saturday at Spring Lake Park. Also taking part will be Roseville and Centennial.
  • Defending Class 4A state champion Benilde-St. Margaret's host a scrimmage Saturday that also features Hill-Murray, Holy Family and Providence Academy.
  • Defending Class A state champion Minneapolis North will take part in a scrimmage at Park Center beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Fridley and St. Paul Humboldt are the other two teams.
  • Burnsville will host a scrimmage beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday with St. Thomas Academy and Rochester John Marshall.
  • For perhaps the first time since the late 1990s, St. Cloud Tech head coach Gregg Martig said his team will host a scrimmage Saturday. Only one other team will be on hand - Willmar. It starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium. The Tigers boast a talented senior receiving corps. Senior Brevyn Spann-Ford is headed to Minnesota. Classmate James Kaczor is headed to North Dakota State.
