The betting among dignitaries is on.

Just 20 minutes elapsed before New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu agreed to take Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey up on a bet on the outcome of Sunday's NFC Divisional playoff game in Minneapolis.

Frey tweeted at Landrieu about 8:30 a.m.: "I hear you want to make a bet" on this weekend's Vikings-Saints game. "You know it's in MPLS – just like wk1 was – right?"

Landrieu followed with his own jab.

" … the #WhoDatNation & @Saints are ready to get the W! This isn't wk1 – more like 2010 when we beat the @Vikings then won @SuperBowl!"

Frey, confident enough about a Viking win to not use the @ Super Bowl tag, fired back:

"13-3 … A Saints W is less likely than MPLS breaking 50 degrees on Sunday. You got a deal. We'll put up some Minnesota-harvested wild rice. The #BoldNorth thanks you in advance for the generosity."

Perhaps taking time to weigh what New Orleans had to offer, Landrieu responded about 25 minutes later, offering up Mardi Gras King Cakes.

Meanwhile, Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar entered into a bet with Republican Sen. John Kennedy for "Cake and Ice Cream."

Klobuchar offered up purple homemade ice cream against, yet again, a King Cake from Kennedy, according to a release from Klobuchar's office.

"I look forward to welcoming the Saints to Minnesota this Sunday. I'd like to remind my friend Senator Kennedy that the Vikings kicked off this season with a win against New Orleans—and I know we can do it again!" Klobuchar said. "I look forward to enjoying a Louisiana king cake after a sweet win Sunday. The only thing sweeter will be the Vikings playing in the Super Bowl right here in Minnesota in February."
"I have no doubts the Saints will beat the Vikings this Sunday and continue their path to the Super Bowl," said Kennedy. "I am so confident that we will win, I bet Senator Klobuchar a king cake. I'm going to make good on the bet regardless of the game's outcome. At least having a king cake will make it easier to stomach a loss this weekend. Who Dat!"
