Minnetonka Boys Hockey State Tourney Preview

March 05, 2018 11:20 AM

The Minnetonka Skippers are state tournament-bound for the 1st time since 2010, and earned the No. 1 seed in AA. They open vs. Hill-Murray on Thursday at 6 p.m. at XCEL Energy Center. All quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship games will be televised on KSTC Ch. 45.

Minnetonka advanced to state after an unreal comeback last Wednesday vs. Holy Family. They tied the game with seconds to go, then won in double overtime.

KSTP Sports was at a recent Skippers practice to get reaction on making it to the 'X" and to the thrilling section finals win.

Minnetonka (24-2-2) nabbed the top seed, in large part, because they beat No. 2 seed Edina two out of three times in the regular season.

It's entirely possible the two rivals will meet for a fourth time, Saturday night for the AA championship.
