June 07, 2016 08:48 PM

Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Glen Perkins has been sidelined much of the season due to a left shoulder strain. Perkins has only pitched in two games this season -- his last outing was against the Kansas City Royals on April 10.

Perkins, 33, is hopeful to be back soon.

"There's a light at the end of the tunnel. I've thrown off the mound twice now. Each time I go out there to pitch I get more anxious," Perkins told KSTP.

Perkins, according to manager Paul Molitor, will be sent out on a rehab assignment soon.
