Gophers Coach Pitino Shortening Playbook Heading into Wednesday's Game vs. N'Western

January 09, 2018 06:15 PM

Gophers head coach Richard Pitino will continue to tweak his line-up as he tries to fill holes left by the absences of center Reggie Lynch and wing Amir Coffey.

Coffey suffered a humeral avulsion glenohumeral ligament injury to his right shoulder in the team's win over Illinois last week. Lynch is sitting out for violating the university student code for sexual misconduct.

In the meantime, Pitino said he won't be afraid to change the line-up to fit the team's current strengths. He also said he is shortening his playbook.

"Can you play small? There are a lot of big guys in this league. They're going to have to figure it out. They want to play with that opportunity that has been presented to them right now," said Pitino on Tuesday.

The Gophers will play their fifth conference game on Wednesday night when the team travels to play Northwestern.
