May 02, 2017 11:02 AM

The Gophers softball team has nine new players this year, and one is the best freshman in the Big Ten. Her name is Kendyl Lindaman and she has prodigious power.

Lindaman is a big reason why the Gophers are 48-3, and in prime position to make a deep run in the postseason. She has 18 home runs to go along with a .430 batting average. Her 18 homers are a new Gophers season record.

Lindaman is from Ankeny, Iowa, and was a great home run hitter in high school too.

KSTP's Chris Long recently talked to Lindaman to find out what her key to success is.
