Minnehaha Academy Beats Apple Valley in a Clash of the Champions

Defending Class 2A Boys' State Basketball Champion Minnehaha Academy beat defending Class 4A champ Apple Valley 82-79 on Thursday night in Apple Valley.

Sophomore point guard Jalen Suggs scored 19 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for Minnehaha Academy, while senior forward Javonni Bickham finished with 25 points and nine rebounds for the Redhawks.

Apple Valley was led by senior Tre Jones who nearly had a triple-double with 39 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Jones is the top-ranked senior point guard in the country and has committed to Duke. Suggs is the #3 overall player in the country in his class, but has not decided on a college yet. The game was broadcast live on ESPNU.
