Murray, in his first season with the Vikings, has rushed for 38 yards on 14 carries through the first four games of the year.

Murray had ankle surgery this offseason, but says he is ready to take on the extra workload in Cook's absence. In 2015, Murray rushed for 1,066 yards and added six touchdowns for Oakland. Last year he had 788 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns.

The Vikings (2-2) play at Chicago (1-3) next Monday night.
