In January, KSTP's Chris Long had a chance to talk to Allen prior to the Eagles' faceoff with the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC Championship game.

"Beau is an unsung hero for us," Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said. "Late in the Atlanta game he had a couple good pass rushes. That last series he showed up like three times. If he doesn't, I don't know if we win that game."

Allen was so good at Minnetonka High School that he played for the varsity team as a freshman. He's only the second player in Dave Nelson's 40-years of coaching to do that. Steve Moore at Blaine HS was the other.

"He's such a great young man," Minnetonka head coach Dave Nelson said. "He's humble and kind and funny. He happens to be a really talented athlete and a great football player, but beyond that, he's easy to root for."

Allen graduated from Minnetonka in 2010 then went to play for the Wisconsin Badgers. After that, he was a seventh round draft pick of the Eagles in 2014.
