The Gophers softball team has the best record in the country, but somehow that wasn't good enough to earn them a seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Instead, the Gophers (54-3) will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to face Louisiana Tech (37-22) in the opening round of the tournament on Friday at 1:30 p.m. (CT).

The Alabama Crimson Tide (42-16) were rewarded the 16th seed and they'll take on Albany (27-16) on the other side of the bracket.

The Gophers won the Big Ten Championship in the regular season and just capped off their third Big Ten Tournament Championship in the last four years on Saturday.
