Banner Season Has Gopher Softball on Verge of Clinching Big Ten Title

As the Gopher Softball team travels to Penn State for their final three-game series of the regular season, their magic number is two to clinch a Big Ten title.  Two wins on their own, two losses by Michigan, or one of each gives the Gophers their first regular season conference title since 1991.

The Gophers have already achieved the highest ranking in program history, are on their way to setting a program record for wins in a season and are in line to host both an NCAA Regional and, if they advance, an NCAA Super Regional.

The Gophers head to State College this weekend with a 48-3 record and are riding their second 19-game win streak of the season. A win in game one Friday night at Penn State would set a new program record for a longest win streak.

They are currently ranked 4th in both major college softball polls - the highest ranking in program history, and received #1 votes in both polls this week.
