Three players who have contributed to the Golden Knights early success have ties to the State of Hockey.

Erik Haula is a graduate of Shattuck-St Mary's in Faribault and played college hockey for the University if Minnesota before spending the first five years of his NHL career with the Wild. Haula was traded to Vegas as part of maneuvering during this past summer's Expansion Draft.

Haula's old roommate at the U - St. Cloud-native Nate Schmit - also moved to Vegas as part of the expansion draft.

Former Wild prospect Alex Tuch has been skating on Haula's line in Vegas during what is Tuch's first full season in the NHL.

The Golden Knights are in St Paul for the first stop on a roadtrip that will take them to Winnipeg on Friday night.
