Former Gopher Damien Johnson Coaching at North St Paul H.S.

During his four-year career as a Minnesota Gophers, Damien Johnson says he loved studying game tapes and breaking down opponents. 

So it comes as no surprise he's now trying his hand at coaching.  Johnson is in his first season as head coach at North St. Paul High School.

Johnson is a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana who came to Minnesota on a basketball scholarship to play for the Gophers.

He played from 2006 to 2010, starting in his junior and senior seasons and averaging nearly ten points a game.

He joins a North St Paul program two years removed from a State Tournament appearance.

Johnson's team is off to a 5-2 start in his debut season.
