The official logo for the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis has been unveiled.
The NCAA, the Minnesota Final Four Local Organizing Committee, Gov. Mark Dayton and University of Minnesota athletic officials were all on hand at the unveiling event held Friday morning at the North Commons Recreational Center in Minneapolis.
Organizers called it an important milestone, and one of many community-based activities that will occur throughout the state in the next 16 months.
The Final Four itself is scheduled for April 6-8 of 2019.
The logo contains the Minneapolis skyline, including the shape of U.S. Bank Stadium. There are hints of deep green to symbolize nature, and sky blue to represent the Mississippi River.
It's also hard to miss the bright orange hues symbolizing the energy of basketball.
Kate Mortensen, the President of the Minnesota Final Four Organizing Committee, said the logo is uniquely Minnesotan.
"The Final Four logo itself represents a terrific opportunity to showcase Minneapolis to the rest of the world," she said.
The Minnesota Final Four Local Organizing Committee also announced the Commons Park on the city' s north side will be the site of the NCAA's next Legacy Restoration Project.
In the coming months, the 25-plus acre park will be restored and designed to inspire young athletes.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled to be held in April.
The NCAA predicts the economic impact of the Final Four in Minneapolis will generate more than $200 million dollars.
