Top-seeded Cretin-Derham Hall held off a late Eden Prairie surge to record a 60-56 victory in the first Class AAAA semifinal on Thursday, March 22 at Target Center.

University of Minnesota recruit Daniel Oturu, a 6-foot-10 senior forward, sealed the Raiders’ berth in the Class AAAA championship game on a key rebound on Eden Prairie’s last-second shot, followed by two free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining. He finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds to power the Raiders (29-2) into the Class AAA championship game for the first time since winning the Class AA title in 1993.

But to do so, the Raiders had to survive some anxious moments when Eden Prairie (23-8) staged a comeback from 11 points down to a deficit of just one, 53-52, with 3:10 remaining in regulation time. Sophomore forward Austin Andrews had 16 points and six rebounds for the Eagles. Senior guard Kyler Kluge added 13 points and seven assists.

The Raiders struggled for much of the first half, but recovered to build a 31-25 lead at the break. Senior guard Ryan Larson scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half. He was 5 of 7 from the field in the first half, including 2 of 3 from three-point range. He also had three assists and three steals.

Eden Prairie led by as many as eight points in the first half. Andrews had 10 points in the opening 18 minutes for the Eagles. Kluge added seven points and three assists.

But Cretin-Derham Hall cut away at the deficit, eventually tying the score at 25-all, before ending the half on a six-point run.
