Defending Class AAAA champion Apple Valley had its hands full with unseeded Forest Lake before eventually recording a 67-60 victory in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 21 at Target Center.
The No. 2-seeded Eagles (26-4) needed a 25-9 run during a 10-minute stretch late in the second half that turned an upset bid by the Rangers (19-11) into a seven-point victory.

Senior guard Tre Jones scored 10 of his 22 points in the run that turned a 10-point deficit with just more than 11 minutes remaining in regulation into a five-point advantage with just more than a minute left. Senior guard Luke Martens had six of his 13 points in the spree.
Senior guard Manny Mingco scored 10 of his 20 points in the first half when the Rangers built a 34-28 lead. Senior forward Cooper Berg had 12 of his 18 points in the first half as the Rangers shot 50 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range.
Forest Lake’s lead grew to 10, 45-35, after senior guard Roman Notch converted a three-point play with 11:13 remaining in regulation.
