With history on the line, the 4th-ranked Minnesota Gopher softball team made a statement beating Penn State 14-1 Saturday in State College.  The win gives the Gophers the outright Big Ten Regular season title and a 50-win season for the first time in program history.

They are also the first team in the nation to reach 50 wins this season.

The Gophers struck for six runs in the first inning, three coming on a Dani Wagner's 3-run home run - and never looked back.

Wagner added another home run later in the game, bringing her season total to 7.  She was 3-3 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored today.

Gopher starter Amber Fiser allowed two hits and just one run in three innings. Carlie Brandt closed it out with two innings of shutout relief, also allowing just two hits.

The Gophers close out the regular season Sunday at Penn State before turning their attention toward the Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan next weekend.
