Cunningham Defeats Johnson in Ward 4; Minneapolis City Council Races Decided

Unofficial winners have been selected for 12 of the 13 Minneapolis City Council seats, according to city tabulations. Among the storylines was the Ward 4 victory for Phillipe Cunningham over Council President Barb Johnson.

Cunningham became the second openly transgender person of color elected in the city after Andrea Jenkins won the Ward 8 council seat Tuesday.

On Tuesday evening, voting results from Ward 6, the final ward to report, showed Abdi Warsame won with 3,603 votes.
