Gov. Mark Dayton is expected to announce his appointment to fill a vacancy within the Minnesota Supreme Court Tuesday.

The position was left open after the United States Senate confirmed the appointment of Judge David Stras to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Dayton is expected to hold a news conference with Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea at 10 a.m. at the state capitol to make the announcement.
