Showdown Shaping Up Over Health Insurance Relief at State Capitol

The Minnesota House is expected to pass major health insurance relief and reform at the State Capitol this week, just like the Senate did last week. But under the plan, it could take several months or more to deliver premium relief to Minnesotans. Governor Dayton has said he would not support the plan that Republicans favor, which would call for people to pay their health insurance costs up front, then apply for rebates later based on income levels. Dayton favors offering a discount on premiums up front, then paying the extra costs to insurance companies.

One on One with University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler

U of M President Eric Kaler delivered his budget request to state lawmakers this week, asking for a 12 percent increase in funding for various projects at campuses across the state. This comes following the aftermath of the sexual assault scandal involving several Gopher football players, the firing of Gophers football coach Tracy Claeys and the hiring of P.J. Fleck. Tom Hauser sat down one on one with Kaler to discuss those issues along with his own job security at the U of M.
