Community members have a chance to tour the Washington County Public Works North Shop during an open house this weekend.

The newly-remodeled and reconstructed facility replaces a 50-year-old building. Washington County officials say it’s the first building in the county to use 100 percent LED lighting, and it also has in-floor heating to melt snow and ice from trucks.

The open house takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at 11660 Myeron Road N. in Stillwater.

The event includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. and self-guided tours. There will also be equipment demonstrations and refreshments.
