The man killed in an early-morning Lakeville fire Tuesday has been identified by family as Jon White.

His sister, Melissa White, confirmed his identity on Wednesday.

Firefighters were called at about 3 a.m. Tuesday to a residence on Jasmine Way in Lakeville on reports of a fire. The home was a total loss, according to fire officials.

The fire started just hours after the family got together in the home for Christmas.

"Christmas in the future will be different now, that's for sure," Melissa White told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

She vividly remembers her final moments with her brother, sitting in the living room and playing with the family dog.

Melissa describes Jon as a man who loved to retreat to his parents' basement to create and build things. She said he always had something up his sleeve.

"He was just always creating and always making things, and doing things for other people," she said. "He lit up any room he walked into it. He was goofy. He always put a smile on every ones face."

Jon was also excited to be a groomsman in Melissa's upcoming wedding.

His mother and father were able to successfully escape the home without injury.

A GoFundMe has been set up to provide financial assistance for the White family.
