4 in Custody after Assault Involving Gun at Brooklyn Park Gas Station

Four people are in custody after an incident at a Brooklyn Park gas station late Sunday night.

A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crew at the scene reported a large police presence in the area of 63rd and Zane avenues near a Shell gas station.

The incident was originally described as an apparent shooting.

Brooklyn Park police said an officer witnessed an assault at the gas station.

The altercation was between two groups in a parking lot. 

"The officer witnessed one individual display a handgun and fire a shot at the other group. No one was struck by the gunshot," according to a press release from the Brooklyn Park Police Department.

The officer then chased down four male suspects and apprehended one. 

The officer believed he heard another gunshot coming from suspects as they fled, according to Brooklyn Park Police Department. 

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS cameras were rolling when a man was taken into custody, and it was confirmed he was linked to the incident at the gas station.

A Minnesota State Patrol chopper assisted in the "extensive search," according to Brooklyn Park police. 

All four suspects were found and arrested. They are being held on second-degree assault charges. Two handguns were recovered.
