Summer Harvest for Kids: Chef Carl Hoke and YouthLink

June 01, 2017 05:26 PM

Our Summer Harvest for Kids Campaign kicks off on June 8, and we want to show you how your donation can make a difference.

We met up with Chef Carl Hoke. He's the food service manager at YouthLink. YouthLink works to help kids and young adults struggling with homelessness.

Chef Carl uses his role to teach some of these kids how to cook. Then they take those real-world skills out into the work force.

Chef Carl says he's got at least 25 young men and women now working in restaurants.

"I really love what I do. This is my bliss," Hoke said. "As a man, as a father, a grandfather, I feel it's my duty to help in some capacity. There's a lot of success stories."

YouthLink is one of four local groups that will benefit from our Summer Harvest Campaign.

It all kicks off at 4:30 am on Thursday, June 8th. We'll be live all day at Mall of America. Our goal is to raise $150,000 in 18 hours.
