Parade float runs over woman in Mpls.

A woman is recovering after being run over by a float in Sunday's May Day Parade in Minneapolis.

The woman was not part of the parade, but somehow she ended up on the route.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. on Bloomington Avenue and E 32nd Street.

More than one dozen people helped lift the float off the woman.

"There was a commotion in front of the float, and then they stopped a bunch of bystanders who ran in front of it. A cop ran in front of it and stopped a float for two or three minutes," said witness Dave Jensen.

The woman was taken away in an ambulance, but her injuries did not appear to be serious.

The accident stopped the parade for a short time, but after the scene was cleared, the parade continued.
