Roseville Police investigating attempted abduction

Roseville Police are looking for the man who approached an eleven-year-old girl Wednesday morning.

Police say the man drove up to the victim, who was on her way to school at Falcon Heights Elementary, just after 8 a.m. in the area of Hamline and Garden Avenues.

He rolled down the window of his vehicle and asked the girl if she wanted a ride. The girl immediately ran away and reported the incident to school officials.

Police say the man didn't attempt to grab the girl or follow her, but are calling it a potential abduction.

The girl told police the man was driving a full size, older SUV. It was red and dirty with visible rust. Falcon Heights and Roseville police say they will step up patrols in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roseville Police Department at (651) 767-0640 or Crime Stoppers Minnesota at (800) 222-TIPS.
