A judge has ordered a former Wisconsin sheriff's deputy to stand trial in the deaths of his wife and sister-in-law.
Police found Andrew Steele's wife, Ashlee Steele, and his sister-in-law, Kacee Tollefsbol, shot in the Steeles' Fitchburg home on Aug. 22. Prosecutors charged Andrew Steele with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide last week.
Dane County Circuit Judge Steven Ebert bound Steele over for trial Thursday following a preliminary hearing. At the hearing, a detective testified that he found Tollefsbol shot in the home's basement and that she told him before she died that Andrew Steele shot her.
Steele's attorney didn't call any witnesses.
Steele resigned from the Dane County Sheriff's Department in June after he was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease.
