Jerome Simpson's three-game suspensions has been upheld by the NFL. The league said in a statement Friday morning, Simpson will be suspended without pay for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
He was arrested last November on suspicion of drunken driving, and in January he pleaded guilty to careless driving and refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Simpson traveled to the NFL headquarters last week for an appeal hearing, but his effort ultimately had no effect on the ban.
Simpson will be eligible to return on Sept. 22.
Simpson missed the first three games in 2012 following a felony drug conviction.
