A search in Canada on Thursday for the man wanted in connection with a murder at an Arden Hills gas station earlier this month has turned up empty.

Thunder Bay police reported they believed Ty Hoffman was is in the city. A man thought to have been Hoffman was spotted by police just before 6 p.m. Police were advising motorist to avoid an area of Riverside Drive and Central Avenue, as well as asking residents to remain indoors as a precaution.

At approximately 9 p.m., police were able to confirm the man spotted in the area was not Hoffman. A public safety warning was then canceled for the area.

The reward for the arrest of Hoffman remains at $25,000.

Hoffman is accused of killing 48-year-old Kelly Phillips, a Boston Scientific executive. They drove to an Arden Hills gas station Aug. 11, and Phillips was shot in the head and back as he tried to run from the gunman.

Hoffman hasn't been seen since. Prosecutors have charged him with second-degree murder and issued a national warrant for his arrest.

The search for Hoffman continues.
