Adrian Peterson contacted Jerry Jones in June, expressing interest in joining the Dallas Cowboys, according to an ESPN “Outside the Lines” report.

Peterson is currently in year four of a seven-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.  If the report is true, Jerry Jones could face a possible tampering penalty for not reporting the conversation he had with Peterson to the Vikings.

The Vikings responded to the report saying, “We are focused on the 2014 season, and as we have consistently communicated, Adrian is an integral part of the Vikings organization.”

Peterson responded to the situation saying, “This was a casual conversation between NFL colleagues in which I never indicated I wanted to leave the Vikings. I have always said I understand the NFL is a business but that I would love to retire as a Viking."
