There could be some good news for the former Benilde-St. Margaret hockey player who was paralyzed during a game several years ago.

Jack Jablonski on Tuesday tweeted, “I think I just moved my right foot... #isthisreallife.”

Jablonski suffered a severed spinal cord injury at the neck and two fractured vertebrae when he was inadvertently checked from behind in a junior varsity hockey game in the winter of 2012.

His mom, Leslie Jablonski, shared the news of his physical progress on the CaringBridge site for her son.

"I ran upstairs to the deck where Jack was sitting in the sun. I asked him what was going on. Jack replied with one of those 'Oh mom, you're making a big deal out of nothing' kind of comments ... My first question was, 'Did your foot move from a spasm or did you actually make it move?' Jack: 'I made it move.'"

Leslie Jablonski also wrote on the CaringBridge site that Jack was able to sit up on a mat by himself while at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute for his rehab. She said he was "super steady" and that she was "shocked." She also said Jack's trainer said Jack had also recently moved his triceps on his own, which was a "not-supposed-to-happen" occurrence, she wrote.

You can follow Jack's progress through his CaringBridge site here.
