A former University of Minnesota, Mankato football player who is recovering from a severe brain injury after an assault continues to make strides.

In an update on Isaac Kolstad’s CaringBridge site, his wife Molly wrote he surprised his old co-workers during a trip back to Mankato. She says they were shocked to see him walking through the door.

He also met with his neurosurgeons in Mankato, who helped him right after the injury.

She says they stood in awe when they saw how far he's come.

Kolstad suffered a severe brain injury during a fight back in May.

His wife says he's made incredible progress.
