A serious crash in Fridley sent five people to the hospital early Friday morning, and several of them are in critical condition.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a 2015 Chevy Trailblazer was traveling at a high rate of speed on eastbound Interstate 694 at the exit to East River Road when it ran off the ramp to the left and rolled several times. Five people were in the vehicle at the time.
Hennepin County Medical Center officials say the conditions of the victims are worse than what was originally reported on the Minnesota State Patrol website.
The driver was identified by the Minnesota State Patrol as 21-year-old Charles Ginyard III of Fridley, who is in critical condition. Forty-two-year-old Charles Ginyard Jr. of St. Cloud is also in critical condition; he was a passenger and was reportedly not wearing seatbelt, officials say.
Eighteen-year-old Correna Harwell of Woodbury and 21-year-old Victoria Harwell of St. Paul were also passengers and are in fair condition. We're told they were both wearing seatbelts.
Eighteen-year-old Charisse Cash of Pine River was the fifth passenger and is in critical condition.
All lanes of I-694 are now open in both directions as are the exit ramps.
