The suspect in the shooting death of a man outside a gas station in Arden Hills has been formally charged with intentional second degree murder.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for 44-year-old Ty Hoffman. His ex-boyfriend, Kelly Phillips, was shot and killed Monday morning. Hoffman is the only known suspect in the murder investigation.
A nationwide executable warrant is now issued for Hoffman’s arrest. The state plans to ask for $1 million bail, according to the Ramsey County Attorney’s Office.
Investigators believe a person or persons have been in contact with Hoffman and may be helping him.
In a news release Friday, Ramsey County investigators say, "we want those individuals to be aware that Mr. Hoffman has now been charged with intentionally murdering Kelly Phillips. By law harboring, aiding or assisting Mr. Hoffman, by word or act, or intentionally aiding him by concealing evidence, providing false or misleading information or otherwise obstructing this investigation is a felony."
The criminal complaint against Hoffman has been sealed until he is in custody to protect the ongoing investigation.
The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information on Hoffman's whereabouts to call (651) 266-7320. They are urging anyone who has had contact with Hoffman, or has helped him in anyway, come forward immediately. Authorities say their assistance in the investigation will be taken into consideration.
A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information leading to Hoffman's arrest.
Phillips funeral is being held this morning in his home town of Mason City, Iowa at 11 a.m.
