It has been a week since Mendota Heights police officer Scott Patrick was laid to rest.

Pastor Cassie Nault says the officer's family is strong, prayerful and leaning on faith right now.

Nault is the pastor at the Patrick's long-time church, St. Stephen's Lutheran in West St. Paul.  It's where Patrick was married years ago. It’s also the one place where Patrick's family is turning for support today.

"We love them very much," Nault said.

"I think it's so important to cling to hope in times of deep distress," she said.

Nault says the funeral is always hard for a family, but that the days and weeks after can be even harder.

"It's when you come up on those birthdays and anniversaries, those are most we are going to continue to surround the family in love," Nault said.
