The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office wants any information that could help them find Ty Hoffman. The 44-year-old is the only known suspect in the murder investigation of Kelly Phillips.
Phillips, Hoffman's ex-boyfriend, was shot outside a gas station in Arden Hills on Monday morning. An advocacy group will honor Phillips this week by raising "Live Free Without Violence" flags.
"We do this to raise awareness about the individual," said Liz Richards, the Executive Director of the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women.
The group tracks the number of domestic violence homicides in Minnesota every year.
In 2013, 40 people were killed, including seven men. It was one of the worst years for domestic violence homicides since 1989.
"Consistently having 20, 25, 30 homicides every year is just appalling," Richards said.
Friends, neighbors and family members say Hoffman and Phillips were in a relationship for several years. That relationship did not end well.
Phillips and his fiancé were planning to marry later this month when he was killed.
Hoffman has not been charged in this case, and he has not been found.
The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information on Hoffman's whereabouts to call (651) 266-7320. A $1,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information to Hoffman's arrest.
An anonymous tip can be made by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.
