The University of Minnesota is gaining rapidly-growing respect on a list of "America's Best Colleges" and it's starting to pay off. Forbes recently put the U of M at the top of it's fastest-rising "stars" among U.S. colleges.
In the past five years, the U's ranking has grown from 543rd to 108th, faster than any other college or university. "The word has spread," says Bob McMaster, the U of M's Dean of Undergraduate Education. "We've improved the undergraduate experience here. It's a great place to come and get a degree."
The U of M's rapid rise is due to three main factors, according to Forbes. They cite high average salaries of graduates, retention of students who stay to get a degree and low student debt burden.
