A 28-year-old man who died in an apparent drowning in the St. Croix River on Saturday afternoon has been identified.
The incident happened near Frandsen Landing east of Rush City around 5:55 p.m.
According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, Devin Johnson of rural Harris had been under the water seven minutes before the drowning was called in.
Witnesses say he was swimming across the river when he began to have trouble. He went under and did not resurface.
Authorities located him in the water around 8:005 p.m.
