A court date for the man suspected of killing Mendota Heights police officer Scott Patrick has been canceled.
Brian Fitch Sr. of Mendota Heights has been accused of shooting Patrick in the head, leg and abdomen during a traffic stop in West St. Paul last Wednesday.
Fitch ran from the scene, according to police. The 39-year-old was found in St. Paul, where he was shot several times after he fired at police.
He was taken to Regions Hospital and underwent surgery after the shootings.
Fitch has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in Dakota County. He also faces attempted murder, assault and dangerous weapon charges in Ramsey County.
His first court appearance in Dakota County was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 11. KSTP has learned the first appearance has ben canceled. A new date has not yet been set.
At last check, his first appearance in Ramsey County court is still scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Regions Hospital could not give an update on Fitch's condition.
