If you’re heading into or around Minneapolis this weekend, you could be in for a traffic mess.
Interstate 35W southbound has closed from Highway 55 to 46th Street in south Minneapolis from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
The closure had been previously set for Friday night, but was pushed back.
The detour takes drivers along I-94, I-394, Highway 100, and Highway 62. The closure is part of survey work for an upcoming resurfacing and bridge replacement project beginning in 2017.
Also in Minneapolis, the ramps from University Avenue and 4th Street to I-35W northbound will reopen temporarily on Friday night to accommodate Vikings game traffic. The ramps will also reopen on Aug. 16 for event traffic. Otherwise, expect the ramps to be closed through late August.
In the southeast metro, I-494 eastbound will be reduced to two lanes from Hardman Avenue to Maxwell Avenue this weekend. This is part of a sealcoating project, so the work is weather dependent.
There are a lot of construction barrels up at the intersection of Highway 55 and Highway 149 in Eagan. Expect lane closures and delays until November.
In the southwest metro, Highway 169 northbound remains closed from I-494 to Bren Road through October. The detour takes drivers along I-494 and Highway 100.
