The Diocese of New Ulm is defending itself Tuesday, after the release of eight names of priests who are accused of sexual misconduct during their time in the diocese.
The names were revealed during a January deposition between Fr. Francis Garvey and Jeff Anderson and Associates.
In the past, the diocese refused to release the names.
On Tuesday, the Diocese of New Ulm said that seven of the eight priests on the lists are now dead and that six of them are well-known because they're listed on a website tracking alleged clergy abuse.
The diocese says it regrets the effects of any possible sexual abuse at the hands of its priests, and it's strengthening its procedures to stop it from happening again.
