Minneapolis police are asking for the public’s help to identify an armed, masked man who got into a shootout with a convenience store clerk last month.

The shooting was caught on surveillance video at the Handy Stop located on the 2600 block of Broadway Ave. W, just before 9 a.m. Saturday, July 26.

The masked suspect can be seen coming into the store with a semi-automatic handgun already drawn. He climbed up on the counter and was then surprised by the clerk who was also armed, police said.

Police say the clerk started shooting and exchanged gunfire with the suspect, until he ran from the store.

Investigators say the clerk is licensed and registered to carry a firearm.

Witnesses say the suspect ran from the store, jumped on a BMX bike and was last seen riding away from the Loft Apartments and down 27th Street.

Police are worried the suspect may target more businesses.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or text TIP674, plus your information to 274637.

There is a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
