INTERVIEW: Hamline Law Professor Weighs in on Ventura Verdict

Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has won his defamation case against "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle.

The verdict was announced around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. The federal jury awarded Ventura $500,000 for defamation and $1.3 million for unjust enrichment, which brings the total to $1.8 million.

Hamline Law Professor Joe Daly spoke with 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Tuesday, weighing in on the jury's verdict in Ventura's defamation case.

He says it is unusual to have attorneys and the judge agree to a less than unanimous verdict in federal court. Daly believes both sides wanted a decision after spending a lot of time and money on this case.
