A Minnetonka Beach man was charged Monday with being drunk when he ran over his wife last week, according to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman.
David Meder, 57, was charged with a single count of criminal vehicular homicide or operation-operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more, in the death of 57-year-old Diane Meder.
According to the criminal complaint, Meder told police he and his wife were returning home and he stopped the car to get the mail. Meder said his wife got out of the car at some point and he accidentally ran her over in the driveway. She was still alive when medics arrived and she said it was an accident. She died just before 10 p.m. at North Memorial Medical Center.
Meder smelled of alcohol and a Breathalyzer registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.155, the complaint states.
Bail of $150,000 was requested. Meder made his first appearance in court Tuesday.
