Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed after he allegedly attacked a woman in a northern Minnesota home.
Koochiching County Sheriff Brian Jespersen says 34-year-old Benjamin Beaudoin of Mendota Heights was shot and killed just before 6 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities say Beaudoin busted into a home on Highway 53 around 5:20 a.m., and he and the homeowner got into a struggle. The homeowner hit him over the head with a shotgun. Beaudoin eventually left the home.
He went to a different home just up the highway and knocked on the door. Ethal Himes, 72, answered and offered to let him in when he told her he had been assaulted.
Once inside, Beaudoin allegedly grabbed Ethal and threw her down to the floor. Ethal’s son, Bradley Himes, 48, came into the room and told Beaudoin to stop. When Beaudoin didn’t stop, Bradley grabbed a handgun from the bedroom. He says Beaudoin followed, allegedly lunged at him and that’s when he shot Beaudoin.
Authorities responded, and Beaudoin was taken to Rainy Lake Medical Center where he later died.
The incident is still under investigation.
